Certification Process

 

Eligible Disabilities

We are now accepting applications for individuals who are mobility impaired and aged 12 years of age or older. You will need to provide a copy of your Driver's License or photo ID showing the age of the participant, Vehicle License Plate or Handicapped Placard and/or a Physician's document stating your mobility impairment and/or reason for disability.  If you are unable to provide any of the above documentation, please contact our director at happytrailsalabama@gmail.com.

Buddy Requirement

Each qualified individual using an EcoRover must be accompanied by an individual, 18 years of age or older, in good physical condition who will be referred to as their “Buddy.” This person should be well hydrated and able to navigate park terrain alongside the chair at all times.  Individuals and their accompanying companion are required to watch a virtual training video provided during the pre-certification process and pass a course exam. In case of emergency, it is the Buddy’s responsibility to carry a charged mobile device at all times. In the event that cellular service is unavailable, the Buddy will be required to seek help by returning to the location where the chair was checked out as quickly as possible.

 

1. Submit a copy of the participant’s and buddy’s photo ID and proof of disability. 

2. Upon review, you will receive a link to the instructional video and course exam. Both the video and exam must be completed by the participant and buddy. 

3. Within 5 business days of completing the exam, you will be contacted by Happy Trails of the Locust Fork with a certification number and scheduling link.
